MacMillan Bring and Buy SaleIt was just after I got the hole in one on the 12th that a thought occurred to me. Why don’t Alison and I take on the organisation of the MacMillan Bring and Buy Sale...............then I woke up!! However, the idea festered in my brain and eventually I rang Alison who immediately agreed to help, click here to see how things progressed Doreen Williams and Alison Boyes |
B Team NewsWell, that's the last game for the 2009 season finished! We ended on a high note with a home win against Forest Hill (4½ – 1½ ), the highlight of which was a win for Aubrey. My thanks to everyone who played and supported B Team this year (all 45 of you!). Results were good with 11 wins, 10 losses and 3 matches drawn. Trophies were retained against Nuneaton and Ullesthorpe , lost against Hinckley but we did hold Cosby to a draw. We had a great away-day at Collingtree Park supported by 22 players. Winner over the 9 holes was Rob Clarke with 'Nearest the Pin' won by Wayne Robinson. Winner over the 18 holes was Steve Moonan with 'Nearest the Pin' won by Andrew Pearson and 'Longest Drive' won by Kevin Knight. Pairs winners were Steve Moonan and Andrew Pearson. Our End of Season Competition was great fun with 20 players joining in. The winner was Trevor Davies (40 points), 2nd Tony Rogers (36 points on countback) and 3rd Bob Ginn (also 36 points). 'Nearest the Pin' was claimed by Tony Rogers and 'Longest Drive' by Adam Green. At the end of season meeting the 'Player of the Year' cup was awarded to Ian Champion and the 'How Many Cup' to Ian Champion and Steve Moonan. After much discussion and friendly banter, it was decided that Ian Champion would continue as B Team Captain in 2010, and I was honoured to accept this role again. I would like to say 'Congratulations!' to all our trophy winners, and many thanks for the support you have all given me this year. I hope to see you all next year for a successful and enjoyable time. Ian Champion

New Lady Captain names charityI am eagerly looking forward to my year as Lady Captain of Lutterworth Golf Club. Even though I am not a particularly good golfer I do not see this as being of paramount importance to being a good Captain and I assure you all I will be supporting the matches and doing my best to make the views of the ladies heard at our Committee and Main Committee meetings, as I have tried to do as Vice Captain.
