A plea from the President

Could you be guilty of slow play?

Please note

The committee will be monitoring the speed of play. This is for the benefit of the whole club.

Junior Newsletter

An excellent close to 2009 and an exciting start to the New Season.

The Junior Section is now 53 strong and I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new members; these include Alice Watkins, Conor Campbel, Luke Robinson, James Warner, and Tom and Ben Watson.  Monthly coaching has continued throughout the winter and despite the cold and wet has been well attended.  The next session is scheduled for Sunday 21 March at 1.00p.m. at the Pro Shop.

The 2009 Season Junior Presentation Evening was well supported and congratulations to all of the winners.  Zack Bevins made an excellent welcoming speech and can have no excuse for not standing up and saying a few words at future junior matches!!  Congratulations to Josh Ewen for winning the Junior Cup and Jamie Bubb the Barson Trophy.  As I write this both he and Sam Skerratt will be in Devon with the County elite squads playing golf at Ashbury.  Click here for photos, a welcome to our new junior Captain and more details on up and coming events.

Amendments to 1st Hole Bunker

Some of you may have seen that work has commenced on remodelling the bunker at the front left of the first green.  This is being reshaped so that the right side of the bunker will protect the left half of the green.

At the same time a path will be created between the bunker and the conifers which will allow players an easier route to the back of the green and to the second tee.

The green will be extended by one metre on the left hand side so that the bunker is closer to the edge of the green.

Click here to see a picture of the changes.

L&RGU Annual Dinner

The annual dinner of the L&RGU took place at Hinckley Golf Club on Friday 19 February.

Tony

The photo shows County President, Lutterworth's Tony Harper with the outgoing President of the English Golf Union, Norman Forrest.

Tony gave a report on the first year of his two year term and Lutterworth Golf Club was represented by seven members including the Club Captain and Club Presdident.

Meet the committee

A must for new and current members.

On Wednesday 3 March there is a "Meet the Committee" evening in the clubhouse from 7:30pm.

Please come along if possible and take the opportunity to raise any concerns, make suggestions or ask for information about your club.

Three flags trial

A Chance to one Putt!

A trial is taking place in March, where three different coloured flags will be used on the greens to show the approximate position of the flag.

Red flags will show that the hole is in the front third of the green.

Yellow flags show that the hole is in the middle third.

White flags will be used where the hole is in the back third of the green.

It is hoped that this will prove popular with members and visitors, but please feel free to give feedback on how this is working.

Diaries

Ensure you don't miss out on the action

Have you used the online diary on the club web site yet?

This shows all the latest information about events and competitions at the club and is regularly updated by the office.

To see the diary just select Diary from the News & Events menu on the front page of the web site, or add the following link to your favourites:

http://www.lutterworthgc.co.uk/calendar.php

You can easily create your own Google diary and then add events to this from the club diary - just click the event and select add to my calendar.

(see www.google.co.uk - the calendar option in the more menu)

This is a great way to keep your own up to date diary that you can access easily from the internet.

Hardcopy Diaries are also now available from the office.

Hole sponsorship

Hurry to get your Company name known around the course

More than half of the new hole sponsorship packages have now been agreed.  This means that new signs should be erected on or near each of the tees in the next few months.  Each sign will be double sided and have a diagram of the hole and yardage information, together with details of the hole sponsor.

It is hoped that the new signage will assist visitors to navigate the course.

If you (or your company) are interested in sponsoring a hole, please contact Lee in the Pro Shop. Don't miss out on this great opportunity.
