Senior MomentsThe Seniors’ match season is now well under way, with 7 matches having been played at the time of writing. Nevertheless the matches have been played in a good spirit of friendliness and many complimentary comments have been received regarding the fine state of the Lutterworth Course and the quality of the after match meals. Well done to all concerned. However, the “piece de resistance” continues to be the provision of tea and cake at the Halfway House! We appear to be the envy of all the visiting Clubs on this one! All praise to Jim Moss and his trusty band of volunteers. Best wishes are extended to Brian Croft who has recently undergone triple heart by-pass surgery. The operation was a success and Brian is now well on the way to recovery. We look forward to his return. We are now looking forward to the Seniors’ Away Day at the Kenilworth Golf Club on the 30th June

B Team wins Kibworth Centenary Cup!The season's well under way now and with 8 matches played results are very good - 4 matches won, 2 drawn and 2 lost. The highlight so far was winning the Lutterworth – Kibworth Centenary Cup (1904-2004) in the match against Kibworth. This is the first time we have won it since it started in 2005, well done to all those who played. Apart from the first match we have enjoyed good weather, long may it continue. Everybody has enjoyed the matches and the social side afterwards, and even some of my jokes!! So far we have had 10 new members join us; and as always we welcome new faces. If anyone else is interested please put your name on the B Team noticeboard. Anyone who has not returned their availability sheet yet, please do so, so that I can include you in the matches that are still to play. Ian Champion B Team Captain 2010 |

Look out for the New Course SignageWe are delighted to announce that you will see the new course signage around the course over the next few weeks. This is tremendously exciting for the club, making it look very professional, be of benefit to visitors - and - at no cost to the club. In fact in subsequent years - thanks to our sponsors - it will raise signficant funds for the club. Added to this the new course planner will be provided FREE of charge to each member. If you should want to be a sponsor, there are 1 or 2 opportunities left to have your business advertised on our course. But you will need to hurry and see Lee Now.

Membership driveWe want more Ladies! We have had great success encouraging new gents to our club, and have in fact a waiting list. But we still have vacancies for new lady members. Don't forget that the "Member Get Member" scheme is still in place, whereby introducing new members, you can get a credit of up to £75 on your card account. Remember, we do need a full compliment of lady members. So bring some colour to the course and propose a Lady member. |
Speed of playFollowing your President's comments in the Spring newsletter it should be noted that the Committee have been monitoring the speed of play and will continue to do so. As we are all aware nobody sets out to deliberately play slowly but regrettably slow play does occur. In addition to the Committee's efforts, all Members must at all times be mindful of their speed of play, assist others in the group to adopt a more acceptable pace of play and above all keep up with the group in front. These simple measures if instigated by all Members will without doubt make for a more enjoyable round of golf for all. Jerry Casper (Chair Handicaps & Competitions) |
L&RGU Centenary Texas ScrambleOn Friday 11th June, Lutterworth is hosting The L&RGU Centenary Texas Scramble. This is a prestigious event and we are proud to be associated with the celebration of the county golf union's centenary celebrations. It is particularly appropriate as Tony Harper, the current County President, is a long term member of Lutterworth and the first Lutterworth member to be County President in our 106 year history. The following day there is a centenary Am-Am and gala dinner at the Leicestershire golf club at which we are also represented. Tim Fisher (Club President) |
