Senior Moments
The Seniors Section has had a busy but enjoyable summer period, meeting its various match commitments. Since the last edition of the Newsletter, 21 matches have been played, which, although at times has stretched the playing resources to the limit, has resulted in some keenly fought and memorable games. Overall the matches won have slightly shaded the others!! Read more of Eddie's report by clicking the following link. Full Story >> |
B Team News
The B team have had some great results this year We retained the Burworth Cup against Hinckley, the Ullesworth Trophy against Ullesthorpe and we won the Centenary Cup against Kibworth for the first time. Unfortunately, we lost the Nunworth Cup against Nuneaton and despite a magnificent 3-3 draw result Cosby retain the Cosworth Cup. A good value breakThinking sunnier days?? Let me pass-on the great value for money break I experienced in August. You may know it - but to those who don't - Ashbury Manor in Oakhampton. I enjoyed 4 days of golf, 3 nights with FULL (and excellent) board - all for £261! Choice of 7 excellent courses on the edge of the Moors; archery; swimming; tenpin bowling etc etc. It would suit all the family. When we were advised that golf buggies were mandatory - my doubts were raised - but whilst only £10 per buggy normally - for August Free. Well I thought - I bet the drinks are expensive - no, £8.50 for a bottle of wine with dinner. How they do it I don't know. Certainly not the Ritz and the decor a little tired and dreary but I do recommend to anyone wishing to book a golf break. Sally Hollis.

Juniors
This has been a busy year for Junior Golf. The Monday Club ran throughout the school summer holidays and was well supported – our best turnout was 26 juniors on the practice ground and another 12 playing in a competition! Thanks go to Lee and Geoff for their coaching and Rod Dyson for his invaluable assistance. There have been several handicaps awarded and lots of handicap reductions. The summer has also seen a number of new members and I would like to welcome them all to the Junior Section. Ben Benoist Full Story >> |

Magpie NewsletterWhilst the marketing team have enjoyed presenting you with the Magpie Newsletter, it has been difficult to both get contributions, and finally produce and send in its current format. We will therefore be re -thinking how Captains and officers of the club can keep you informed more dynamically. In the meantime do make sure that the office are updated if your email has changed. Best Wishes. The Marketing Team |
